Gateway to the East Kimberley
Date posted:
Kununurra Country Club Resort is located in the town of Kununurra, at the gateway to the amazing East Kimberley region of Western Australia.
We welcome guests from all over the world - some stay a night, and others stay for weeks. But the one thing they have in common is their passion to explore the untouched wilderness of the East Kimberley.
Discover the East Kimberley
Endless skies and wide open roads greet you when you arrive in the East Kimberley, and you will be compelled to start exploring.
Around the town of Kununurra, there is plenty to see and do. Take in the view at Kelly’s Knob, Kununurra’s highest point. Go on a boat cruise along the Ord River. Get cultural at the Kununurra Museum and art galleries in the town centre. Take a short day trip and explore the sandstone ranges at Mirima National Park. Learn about the agriculture and see the Ord River irrigation system.
Kununurra is at the eastern end of the 660km long Gibb River Road, making it a popular starting and finishing point for travellers. El Questro and other stations are popular stops for travellers as they head west. The idyllic Mitchell Falls is a must see for anyone coming to the region, and the sheer enormity of Lake Argyle will take your breath away.
Once you start exploring, you’ll see majestic boab trees, lizards that wave at you, and green tree frogs. Go to banana plantations, stand beneath fresh waterfalls that feel better than a shower, and swim in pools between deep gorges lined with red rock. You will be amazed by ancient rock formations, the rugged terrain and contrasting colours of the landscapes.
