How far is Kununurra from Broome?

Broome is approximately 1045 kilometre/ 11 to 12 hours drive from Kununurra. Main roads connecting the towns are sealed.

What is the weather like in Kununurra?

Kununurra and the East Kimberley experience both a dry and wet season. The table below is an indication of what weather to expect throughout the year. As with all weather, exact conditions cannot be said for certain. These temperatures are predictions only.

Can you visit Kununurra in the wet season?

During January and February Kununurra experiences increased rainfall due to its tropical location. Due to the weather some of the tours and experiences of this region are not at their best. In saying this, these months offer some of the most spectacular sights of raging waterfalls, roaring rivers and a land replenished by the rains.

World Heritage Areas are natural and/or cultural landmarks around the world that are recognised by The United Nations as places valuable to humanity and that will be preserved in their natural form for years to come. 


What is World Heritage?

There are over 360 World Heritage Areas in the world, all of which have exceptional natural or cultural values.

The four criteria for World Heritage are:

  1. Outstanding examples representing the major stages of the earth’s evolutionary history.
  2. Outstanding examples representing significant ongoing geological processes, biological evolution and human interaction with the natural environment.
  3. Unique, rare or superlative natural phenomena, formations or features of exceptional natural beauty.
  4. Most important and significant habitats where threatened species of animals and plants of exceptional universal value from the point of view of science and conservation still survive.


Is there a shuttle bus service to the airport?

Kununurra Country Club Resort is located in the heart of Kununurra township, five minutes drive from the airport. The Resort operates complimentary bus transfers to and from the airport to meet all flights. Please contact the Resort to arrange your seat on the bus.
